PPPoE Troubles

I recently had to re-install Windows XP on my IBM
Thinkcenter. For some reason, I had this major loop going
on so that I couldn't get past the Welcome screen on
bootup. After the re-install, everything works just fine
EXCEPT for my DSL service.

I have Yahoo DSL, and it has worked like a charm since the
day I ordered it. However, now it can't connect. During
it's connection process, it gets to the point where it
says: "Creating the PPPoE Connection..." and can't go any
further. I called up SBC, and they told me to do the
following steps to fix the situation:
1) Go into "Network Connections"
2) Click on "Create a new connection" and start the "New
Connection Wizard"
3) Click on the "Connect to the Internet" choice
4) Click on the "Set up my connection manually" choice
5) Click on the "Connect using a broadband connection that
requires a user name and password" choice

And that's where the problem lies. That last choice is
grayed out so that I cannot choose it. For the life of me,
I cannot figure out why. No other mix of choices will solve
my problem, according to SBC. I tried calling IBM, and they
just directed me to Microsoft. I'm really hoping someone
out there can help me out on this one!

Try going to internet explorer, click on tools, internet options, connections, and if nothing is entered in the box, select set-up and then follow the prompts. If there is something in the box, select never dial a connection and make sure the lan settings at the bottom are set to automatically detect settings

Start with http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=320558 and
note the referenced KB article on

connections after a reinstall of XP.
