PPCtl.dll error

Hi guys...... bet you thought the village idiot had gone away........so
sorry, I'm back.

Computer stays on...do not turn off at night. Woke up
to message window...eTrust PestPatrol Active Protection
ERROR! PPCtl.dll is damaged and could not be repaired! This may be due to
eTrust PestPatrol being run from an account that has insufficient permissions
to do the repair, or the file being in use by another application that also
uses ppctl.dll.

When this window is closed, get this window from etrust pp ap.....
ERROR! Database Init failed (ERROR! :C:\program files\ca\etrust ez
armor\etrust pest patrol\core\ppinfo.dat does not exist)!

I know this is all from the CA eTrust pest program, and I have sent them an
inquiry. My really big concern regarding this is:
When I get this message (three separate occasions now - weeks apart) I
cannot open any program on my desktop. When I go to my computer, there are
no icons, just the little box. Only a few of the items are shown there.
Also, when I do click on a desktop shortcut, it disappears. When I try to
shut down, I get a see thru window. First incident, I shut it down for a
while, turned back on, and everything seemed okay. 2nd incident, I could not
use shut down, and had to turn computer off. This incident, had to unplug.
On/off switch would not even work. I guess ignorance is not bliss.

There was also another window this AM, on top of etrust windows. Window was
taskmgr.exe Application Error... The application failed to initialize
properly (0xc000012d). Click on OK to terminate the application.
Then.........
the paging file is too small for this operation to complete.

OMG............I pray that this is just a really bad conflict with my
windef, and that by uninstalling etrust pp, it will solve this problem.

Is it possible for one error to cause all of the other problems, such as
icons disappearing, unable to shut down, or turn off pc, etc.?

I also have wmp open on toolbar, but not playing. That should have nothing
to do with this.............???

BTW..........I know this paging file thing has something to do with virtual
memory. I have read all of the posts re the low virtual memory messages, as
I get them occasionally too. But, please do not tell me to read the guys
page, that some of you have posted. I might as well have been reading a
foreign language. BUT, could low virtual memory cause any of this. Again,
the vm message, comes from my toolbar...maybe live one care area. I just
ignore it, as it says windows is adding or fixing the vm problem. Is this
okay?

At same time today.........when I was trying to close windows, open
shortcuts, fix this crap.......unplug pc finally............. this is in my
ummm.... event log....
