Powerquest partition magic 8.0

My c drive is a 40g and is partioned into 2 - 20g. C and D drive.
If I delete the D partition will it merge back on to the C or will it be
lost. I dont mind losing the data on the d drive.
I tried to use partition magic but it said it cant merge a fat/fat32 with
NTFS so i figured i would delete the partion and hope it goes back to the C.
will it

It will not, but there is nothing stopping you from "stretching" the C
partition to fill up the empty space left by the deleted partition.

Alternatively, you could convert the FAT32 partition to NTFS then merge
the partitions, this will keep the data for both.

If you delete a partition the space it used to occupy will then
be unpartitioned, unused space. It doesn't get merged with
anything.

No. If you want to merge it, first convert it to NTFS.
Alternatively, delete it and then, using Partition Magic, enlarge
C: to incorporate the unused space where D: was.

Ok. I was able to change the partition to NTFS. Then I ran the merge option to merge the partition with the primary and in the end it said completed. I looked in my computer and everything is still the same.

Have you restarted the computer?

Yes, twice it still shows up in my comp as 2 drives.

If it is indeed a logical you have to remember that you have a primary
created for the logical to reside in.....In this case what I would do is
delete the logical than delete the "primary" created for the logical
also.....Than right click the C & click "resize" and stretch the bar all
the way across till it swallows the remaining space....Apply it &
reboot. Personally I would do this from the PM boot disks.........

That worked. The only thing now is that I had games on the drive I deleted and when I restarted, I went into add and remove programs and they are there. Im uninstalling them manually but where did they go when I deleted the partition.

Well I believe in your first post you said you didn't mind losing the
data no? It's gone.....I suppose that's where they were originally
installed to save space?

The "games" went, however, the registry entries for them, on your primary
drive, would still be there.

You removed the partition, thus the "drive" letter for that partition. Any
menu selection, shortcuts, registry settings and the like won't be able to
find it, you deleted it.

Did you mean to say "extended". That's where the logical drive would be
located.

As a matter of symantecs I suppose so..........

No not symantics, just correct information. To suggest someone delete the
primary drive is akin to instructing him how to destroy his system.

My words exactly "In this case what I would do is delete the logical

It is INDEED a primary as the Pri/Log area states in PMagic.....Should I
have said "extended" yes I agree THANK YOU for the
correction..........Any reason you need to go on about this? The OP
obviously was successful in comprehension.

Because you seemed to just take the attitude of brushing off the "semantecs"
of the incorrect advice you gave. Computers are dumb and only do what one
tells them to do. The least you could do is give correct advice rather than
attack me for correcting you. Now take your meds and chill out.

Me attack you? What was your need to correct me in the first place? It
appears from just your "few" posts over the last 2 wks that you are in
the habit of pointing out supposed "wrongs" according to you.....And you
are a Windows MS basher at that, so why do you even care?

*********************************************************************
You say:

The OP made no mention of having a "recovery disk". Are you Wintards
unable to read a posting, digest its meaning and offer correct answers?

"The downloads might be "free", but most of the crap I see there is
"shareware" and that isn't "free". So what's the point again of this
website? You aren't getting affiliate fees, are you?"

"Software Assurance" coming from Microsoft, sounds like a misnomer. Much
like "military intelligence".

Simply put - XP is a p.o.s. when it comes to dealing with USB2. Maybe
MickeyMouse will fix it one day?

Because OSS threatens MickeyMouse and this MVP is one who lives,
breathes and bows to his Redmond god. Maybe he has shares? Maybe he gets
paid by MickeyMouse to spread its FUD?

Personally I don't have a need for either MS Office or StarOffice. Other
OSS programs I use frequently because they are better than their
commerical counterparts. I prefer Mozilla/FireFox over IE. I prefer K3B
over Nero. I prefer Apache over IIS. I prefer Kmail/Knode over
Outlook/OE. I prefer Linux over XP. On and on and on, I find that the
OSS stuff I use is superior to the commercial products out there. It's
also nice that they are free. :)

Why, when he's asking specifically about XP?

Why would you want to build a website that didn't follow the W3C
standards?

I think you've somehow missed a huge and growing part of the computer
community known as OSS (Open Source Software). There are thousands of
applications available that are non-proprietary and free to use. Many,
as they mature and continue to be developed meet or exceed commercially
available applications.

Of course not. What INCLUDED software that comes bundled with XP can be
relied upon to do much of anything? One usually has to find a third-
party app to get full functionality for a particular job.

Need I go on? So to put it in my nice way, go **** yourself!
