I just upgraded my OS to Win XP, larger HD and a NEC DVD-RW burner.

My computer shop installed Cyberlink DVD Solution software bundle which
inclujdes Power DVD (a player) and PowerProducer 2 Gold (DVD authoring
software). Everything works except PowerProducer 2. I can get it to
open when I am running in Safe Mode but it will not respond using XP.
There must be a conflict somewhere. I made a few changes to the start
up process using msconfig but can't get PowerProducer to open!

Can anyone suggest something? I do not have the original disk and the
computer guy doesn't think that reinstalling DVD Solution software is
the answer!

Help!

TIA

P.K.

If you paid for the software make the "computer guy" give you disk and key
and contact the vendor for support, or make the "computer guy " make it
work.

The computer guy just gave him what was on the CD that came with his newly
installed DVD drive. Not the computer guys fault.

Many installed programs have 3-4 updates available at the time of the
installation. Many drives have firmware upgrades before the first one is
ever sold retail. It's just the way it is now. We are all guinea pigs for
beta testing. I will sell a person something but it is up to that person to
hunt down the updates, unless he wants to pays much more money to me for my
time.

Who's job is it to see that a customer gets all of the current Window
updates? Most techs install the operating system with SP2 and turn it over
to the customer. Want me to install all the subsequent updates? Another
$35.00 please! I "will" do it, but you WILL pay!

Nothin is for nothin.

Thanks for the help....whatever!

I managed to get back to my "computer guy" this a.m. - he was in a good
mood for so early in the morning! ;-)

I had phoned him yesterday to alert him to the fact that I was not
happy with the software.

He couldn't have been more co-operative!!

He burned me a copy of the LG DVD authoring software disk - it included
Cyberlink DVD Solution/PowerDVD /Power Producer along with Nero CD
software (?) and InCD.

I don't understand why Nero was bundled with a Cyberlink product but...

So...I uninstalled evreyting...all Cyberlink programs as well as Nero
and InCD. I had also previously updated my Windows XP software for
whatever that was worth.

Then I did a program specific installation off the disk my "computer
guy" gave me...first Power Producer....it worked perfectly!

Then I loaded PowerDVD (the player) and every still worked perfectly.

I have still to install Nero (and am a little leery to do so!).

Now...I have other questions about burning files ...I have had trouble
burning an .avi file I d/led off a peer sharing program.

I will post another query about this...

Thx.
