video editing in xp

Hi i have a desktop machine with 768mg of RAM running a PIV 2.4ghz processor
with windows xp pro. I have about 40 gig of hd space. When I try to create
a dvd using either avi to dvd or showbiz or cyberlink powerproducer or even
with xp's video editing software I usually get an error and the program
stops.

I tried this on my notebook that has 512 mg of RAM and a PIV 2ghz processor
with xp home but still get the same errors. Is there some tweak that you
know of to allow any of these programs to create dvd files from avi files?
The files are generally about 700mg and it doesnt matter if i try to save to
the hdd or a DVD.

any assistance appreciated.

Just a guess: maybe you need to increase your pagefile size?

Other than that, how about posting the error message here.

If you are trying to burn a standard video DVD using an AVI
data file format the error may be an incompatible file
format. You need to convert the AVI file: Google for
"convert avi to mpeg 4"
