xls files are Excel. You cannot read those with a POWERPOINT viewer. You
need the Excel Viewer to read those.

have you installed it? Double click the file you downloaded to run it
and install the viewer.

XLS files are Excel. There's a free viewer for them the same place you
got the Powerpoint viewer from.

Or check http://www.openoffice.org for a free office suite that will
read *.pps and *.xls files.

It doesn't install...it just runs. Unless O-2007 has a new viewer...the 2003
one is pretty slick. Runs even from a CD without installation.

Anyway, there's a PowerPoint newsgroup staffed by some excellent volunteers.
Best advice is to go visit them.

Hi,
I have the same (?) problem as Terry, got pps attached to my mail
(Thunderbird) and downloaded and executed powerpoint viewer 2007. When trying
to open the pps, nothing happens. When clicking the program in Start, nothing
happens. I can't find help on the internet so far, I have Vista.
Somebody has an idea?

Try microsoft.public.powerpoint
