I have PP reader. When I open a .pps attachment to an email, PP doesn't open
and I can't see the attach. Would welcome any help.

Hi "Zammer",

Try saving it to your desktop and opening it from there........... Just a
thought.

Good Luck.

Thanks, Andy. Sorry to say it didn't work. When I click on a .pps attach I
get Windows Cannot Open This File and am asked to fgind the program that
created it. PowerPoint is not among the choices.

Even if PowerPoint (or the Viewer) is not among the choices, you can browse
for a program and choose it.

None of the programs listed in BROWSE will open the attachments, even though
they're pps.

I may not have been clear. An email has an attch, for ex: "fantastick.pps" I
click on "fantastick.pps" and get the Windows cannot open...box.

Save the attachment to your desktop, start the PowerPoint viewer then use its
file, open command to browse to the PPS you just saved and open it

Steve. That works, thanks. But it is not the solution I'm seeking. Until a
few week or so ago, PP automatically opened pps attachments to emails. Then
the problem I described began. Ireinstalled PP, twice. I eliminated that it
might be another program causing it by disabling all services and startups. I
used MSNmail Premium, and it seems to be OK. As PP opened it the way you
described, could the cause be lack of hookup between PP and the attchment on
the email?

What email program are you using when it doesn't work? Perhaps someone who uses
the same program will have an answer. I know I can't help with that end of it
'cause any email program that allowed anything to open automatically wouldn't last

Steve. I use only that one program, and no one else uses the computer.
Attachments are scanned for viruses by two programs before they're allowed in
the email. I agree that raw attachments are like minefields. Thanks for your
help.

What happens when you double-click a saved PPS on the desktop opposed to
clicking it in an email?

I get the same Windows Cannot Open This File I do when I click the attach
when it's on the email.

So you can start the viewer and open the file ok but if you doubleclick the
file's icon on your desktop, it doesn't work, correct?

If that's the case, try either reinstalling the viewer or resetting file
associations:

Correct. I've reinstalled the viewer a few times. Will try the link on
changing file associations. Hope it's not beyond my meager abilities. Will
post results. Thanks for your interest.
