powerpoint wont advance on click

first time user getting to grips! for some reason the slides wont advance
when you click mouse button, but works with auto advance. Have tried alsorts,
beginning to loose hair, can anyone help me out on this please! powerpoint
2003 on office 2003 package.

See if it works if you press the enter key instead of mouse click.

Go to Custom Animation.
Go to the slide after the advance(the next slide). See if the first
animation is on mouse click. If yes, change it to After previous and see if
it works.
Also, go to slide transition. Under modify transition, see if mouse click is
checked.

What tohlz said. And also, check Slide Show, Set up show ... to see if it's in
Kiosk mode. If it is, that'd explain this.

Kiosk mode plays back automatic transitions only and disables the keyboard and
mouse except when you click on action buttons and hyperlinks.
