PowerPoint - why do bullets sometimes disappear when I run a slide

In several PowerPoint slideshows I've created, I use bulleted lists.
Sometimes the bullets appear every time I open the presentation to edit it,
but then disappear or partially disappear when I actually run it. It looks
as though there's a hidden shape or text box obscuring some of them, but
there isn't. Help?

what font is being used for the actual bullet point?

as that may be the problem
