PowerPoint sound play problem

I have three songs to play in a 150 slide presentation. I have all the songs
set to play through 999 slides. I would like the second song to start at 25
seconds from the beginning of the song, then play through to the end. This
stops my slides from transitioning when I set this. If I set this song to
start at the beginning of the song the slide show runs fine. The other two
songs play fine and all slides associated with them run OK. Any suggestions?

Edit the sound file in a sound editing application. Audacity is often
mentioned here as a good free editor for this kind of stuff.

One of the versions (at least one of the versions) of PPT has a bug that
doesn't play the sound if you start it anywhere other than 00:00 seconds.
Seems as if this is what you're running into.
