Powerpoint and Images

I have a Powerpoint presentation with some embedded images. For some users
all the images show up correctly but for other users they show up as red X's.
If I logon to the PC (as admin) and try to run the ppt, the images show up.
if I use the clients account (on the same PC)they do not show up correctly. I
have also tried another non admin user and they show correctly. Another
problem that seems to be linked to this is when the images are not showing
for the user, the user is unable to paste an image into powerpoint. IE the
user will take a screen dump using print screen and attempt to paste it into
powperpoint. The guidlines for powerpoint will disappear as would happen if
an image was pasted in but no image appears.

The problem only seems to occur on office2003. It is fully updated. I have
tried this on different PCs so the display adaptor is not the cause. The
images are not linked.

I have read those points but as this only occurs for some users and not
others I dont think they apply.

Check a few things:

- How many processes are running on the computers where you see the red-Xs (vs the
same computer when you log in as admin and it works normally)

- How much memory is available on each?

TaskManager can give you some clues in this department. I don't honestly know
*which* of the many memory counters are significant, but it seems it'd pay to
compare as many as possible; if you find any that are out of line, that's a place
you could start investigating.

- Have you tried setting back graphics hardware acceleration?

Heres the test:

PC Dell Optiplex GX60
2Ghz P4
512MB Ram
All Windows Updates
All Office Updates
Powerpoint ver: 2003 SP2 (11.6564.6568)

User1: Me (administrator)

Presentation works correctly, all images show. 26 processes

User2: Client 1

No Images shown, 26 processes

User3: Test account

Presentation works correctly, all images show. 27 processes

Good info ... and the idea to set up a third test user was very good.
I have to admit I'm grasping at straws here, trying to come up with a reason for this
behavior, though.

Are all the processes the same between you/USER1 and the client?

Permissions the same between the client and the test user?

Are the images linked? If so, and the user doesn't have access privs to the folder
where the linked images are stored, that'd give you red x's. And just to be certain,
these *are* pictures and the like rather than charts or OLE content from other apps,
correct?

What happens if you -- temporarily, of course, and only with you at the wheel -- grant
the client more privileges. From user to poweruser, from poweruser to admin?

Have you made any progress on this issue? I have exactly the same
problem, except it is the admin account that doesn't work properly,
user accounts work fine.
