Powerpoint 2003 crashes when I play an MPEG movie

Media Player is able to play the MPEG, but when I insert it into Powerpoint
right click on the object and select "Play Movie" Powerpoint stops (doesn't
seem to go into a "not responding" state) and displays apparently random
parallel lines in place of the movie... The same problem occurs if I play it
in slide-show mode. The funny thing is - up till a few weeks ago it worked
fine.

have you installed something recently?

like quicktime or real player ?

if you have windows XP you can "roll your computer back" to an earlier time.

That tends to do the trick.

or re-install windows media player
