powerpoint 2003 16 x 9

I have 16 x 9 photos I want to place in powerpoint 2003. I set up the
pages for 16 x 9. When I insert the pictures page setup goes back to 4
x 3. I redo the 16 x 9 setup however the pictures go to 16 x 6 and I
have to reformat each picture to 16 x 9 individually. How do you set
up and insert 16 x 9 photos without having to go through all the steps
I mentioned? Thanks.

I see exactly the same strange result. How do I *Lock in* a page size of 16x9 on a PowerPoint presentation so that inserting a picture presized to 16x9 does not result in the presentation resetting to 4x3?

I even tried saving the presentation preset to a 16x9 page size with a text page (which maintains the proper format) but as soon as I add a 16x9 picture the whole dang thing resets to 4x3.

This is idiotic, fundamentally. I see that using a 16x9 template does not solve the problem.

Is this behavior just an un-addressed bug in PP 2003 and later versions of Powerpoint handle this correctly?

Are there other presentation software apps that handle 16x9 format properly?

Thanks, -Harry
