Powerpoint 2002 freezing and rebooting

S

Scott Brydon

I have a user who is running Powerpoint XP/2002 and was emailed a ppt
presentation created in PPT97. When running the show it gets to slide
5 and freezes and rebbots his Win2000 comp. We have tried numerous
fixes posted elsewhere but none seemed to work (ie copy and paste to
new show, saving and renaming to a earlier version). Any suggestions??
FYI it runs fine on my PPT97.

Thanks In Advance
Scott

Scott,

It may depend on what is actually contained within the presentation. If you
have linked or inserted an object / file from another application, such as a
spreadsheet from Excel, then it may be that the machine that you are trying
to play it on does not have the application, or the necessary files
installed on it to show. If you have any of these objects within the
presentation, you may want to ensure that they are not some format that may
not be understood on the other computer, such as an image that was cut and
paste from Adobe (can I say this here? :p) Photoshop. If such things exist,
you can right-click on the image, and use the Convert... command to make the
image into something that PowerPoint will understand natively on any
computer.

If this is not the case, maybe look at any animations that may be used
within the presentation. These may interfere with some graphics cards
performance, and cause the crash.

Just some thoughts. See how you go.

Regards,
Brett
