Power Schemes?

I have decided to leave my computer on 24/7. How do I set the Power Schemes
for Home /Office/ Desk? I have it set at this time Moniter-never; Hard
Disk-never; System Stand By- never; Advanced tab- nothing is checked;
Hibernate-nothing is checked. I am not really familiar with this process
and don't want a password to have to get back into my computer to wake it
up. When the computer starts up it seems to hang in the black boot up
screen for about 1 minute, I am afraid that one of these days it just won't
start up at all so I am going to just leave it on all the time. I don't know
how to fix it & the "techs" at emachines answer for everything is to
reinstall. I made the mistake of listening to them & reinstalling twice &
now have more hassles than I started with.
Thanks for your help,
Marsha

Have you ever scanned for malware/adware? This can slow start up and shut
down.

Adaware personal editions - http://www.lavasoft.de/

and Spybot - http://www.spybot.info/ are free for personal use and easy
to use.
I have both programs that you mentioned all current with updates and updated
current virus protection, PC Cillin 2006. I also went to the Windows Live
Safety Center and let it check out my computer. I am at a loss to why it
hangs there for a minute before it goes ahead & loads.
Does anyone have any input on the settings I have listed to run my PC 24/7?
I would appreciate some advice on the subject.
Thanks,
Marsha
