If you can cope with the Windows XP Command Prompt then
the command POWERCFG is a lot more powerful that the Power Properties
control panel. Type POWERCFG /? for a list of commands but here are a few
that you will need:
POWERCFG /QUERY (displays the current values)
POWERCFG /CHANGE /monitor-timeout-ac xx (where xx is in minutes)
POWERCFG /CHANGE /monitor-timeout-dc xx (where xx is in minutes)
