power schemes in XP Home went missing...

Hope someone can help me with this... my new computer is
running windows xp home. set up my power schemes to run
my laptop. all was fine for two months then I went to
make a few changes in the 'power options properties' and
now find that my powers schemes box is 'blue' with no
settings. As well, the boxes below that allow you to
adjust these settings is blank and fadded out. The
heading 'unknown' also exist.

Can anyone help me regain my old / default settings??
