Power saving settings don't stick

Posted yesterday to another group, no reply, trying this one:
My power saving settings won't stick. Under Control Panel | Power Options I
set up the monitor to switch off after a certain time. This works. Then I
reboot, and the monitor doesn't turn off any more, even though the setting
is still there under the Power Options setting. So I change it by 5 minutes
or so, and lo and behold, it work again, but only until next reboot.
Annoying.
ideas?
thanks

Hi,

Try this edit after all is set:

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

If the above doesn't help, run the edit on line 204 (right hand side)

Keep us posted and good luck!
