Power Point Viewer 2007

I am running windows XP home edition with all the latest updates. For a word
processor, I am using MS Word 2002 with recommended fixes. I receive files
via attachments in e-mails from time to time with a file extension of .pps.
I do not have Power Point on my machine. It looks like Microsoft has a free
download of PowerPoint Viewer 2007. Is this something I can download without
having PowerPoint already installed that I may use to open these .pps files?
Does it work something like Adobe Acrobat reader that allows opening .pdf
files without having the complete Adobe software package installed? By the
way, I am still using IE v6 because I had problems with IE7. I just wanted
to mention this in case it comes into play with my questions. Thanks for
any help you can give me. Charles Ranheim

Hi cranheim,

Yes, the PowerPoint Viewer is something that you can d/load and install
without having PowerPoint installed, similar to the way Adobe Reader works
(i.e., you can open and view the file, but not make any changes to it).

Also, there is an issue with opening .pps attachments directly from Outlook
Express when usiing PowerPoint Viewer......have a look here:

Unable to open .PPS attachments directly from Outlook Express?
