I have my monitor set in the Win2000 Power Options power scheme to go off after 2
minutes of inactivity, and it does...but a few minutes later it turns back on. This is
a new problem, I've been using the power scheme successfully for quite a while but now
this problem. I've tried putting up a window with no activity, which was never
necessary before, but that doesn't help.

Any suggestions? I don't want to turn the monitor off physically(Samsung 17" LCD)
because it has a different problem with the backlights and doesn't always come back on.

Determine what software or hardware is responsible for waking up the PC.

Software (what programs are running in the background)
Hardware ( do you have a wireless mouse or keyboard )

Could also be mechanical, a small intermittent vibration a mouse etc is
sensing.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do have a wireless mouse, but it hasn't caused this
problem before and it spends the night in the same position it always has. Same with
software programs, nothing new that I don't know about but perhaps an upgrade has
changed something. I'll try closing some of the programs that I usually leave on.

Wireless mouse receiver can pick up interference and wake the system up too.
