I'm not sure where to post this query, but I'll take a shot that someone
in this newsgroup may be able to help.......

I'm running Windows XP Home on a Sony VAIO laptop.

I'm not sure of the source of my problem but it seems to have happened
around the time I upgraded to SP2.

Firstly, Norton icons along with other icons were missing from the
System Tray and the status of Norton was unclear. These problems were
resolved by uninstalling and re-installing the software (including
Norton AV 2004).

The status of NAV (according th the XP Security Centre) is unclear. I
think it is that a full system scan has not been conducted since
re-installation. I have run a full system scan using NAV, and after
scanning loads of files and after some considerable time, the laptop
powers off.

I tried to run Ad-aware and after, similarly running for a considerably
long time (I think it was doing a "deep registry scan" at the time), the
laptop powered also off without completing.

Can anyone suggest what might be going on?

I haven't had this power-off problem under any other circumstances.

Any help appreciated...

Thanks,
Martin
