Power Desk 6 color bar

I upgraded from Power Desk 5 to Power Desk 6, and find that it has
an annoying bar along the bottom of the screen that changes color
each time the program is opened.

Does anybody know of a hack to get rid of this bar, or at least to
turn off the color changes?

I just went back to PD5, PD6 just seemed to be a pain I am not sure
what they did but it sure was not an improvement.

I am thinking about going back, also. Power Desk 6 opens more
slowly than PD 5. I hate the color shift on the bar. There don't
seem to be any significant improvements. The only one I noticed is
that PD 6 will peek into RAR files, whereas PD 5 could not look
into more recent RAR files. I'm going to keep it for a while, but
may well revert to Power Desk 5. It depends on how much the new
version irritates me. If I could stop the color shift on the bar,
that would be a help.

When I saw that PD6 was 10X the size of PD5 I decided that I wouldn't
upgrade.

I don't see any color shift on any bar. However, anytime I use it to open
Control panel it will not shut down properly. Must kill it using Task
Manager.

Amazing. I just got finished dumping Power Desk 6 and
re-installing Power Desk 5. It opens much more quickly, and it has
a slightly faster response.

I finally had to uninstall Power Desk 6 because of an annoying
quirk. When I was downloading into a directory, and had the
directory open in Power Desk, the auto-refresh in Power Desk 6
would keep shifting the lefthand pane away from the folders I was
trying to rename or open. It was driving me nuts.

Add to that the stupid color changing bar at the bottom of the
screen, and the incredibly slow start time, and I had to revert to
PD 5.

You are right, the install file for PD 6 is almost 16 megs,
whereas the one for PD 5 is only 1.6 megs. That's crazy, in view
of the fact that there was obviously very little done to improve
the program.

The only thing I regret about reverting to PD 5 is losing the
ability to peek into the latest RAR archives -- and I believe it
is possible to add something that allows this, although I don't
know how to do it.

I dumped PD 6. I'm back using PD 5. There should be a notice
somewhere telling people not to bother with version 6 -- it really
sucks when compared with version 5.
