Hi,

I need to generate a postscript file from my MS Word
doc file. For this, I've installed the generic postscript
printer driver from the Adobe side. After installing,
I can select this printer in Word but the driver has
only the option to print the document in a "Printer File"
*.prn. Is this the same as the Postscript format "ps"?

If not, any ideas what is wrong and why I can't create
ps files?

Regards,
Christian

There is nothing wrong. Windows principally assigns filetype .prn to
Files created by print-to-file, regardless of their content.
If the .prn file was created by a PostScript printer driver, you can
simply rename it to .ps, or when prompted for the filename, enter the
full name including the extension in quotes, e.g. "printfile.ps". This
works for WinXP. In older windows versions windows insists on adding a
".prn" nevertheless so you would then get "printfile.ps.prn".
