Posting pictures using Word

I have a website I upload to using FTP. All my pages are made in frontpage
except for one I update daily.. My Journal.. Which is made using a Word
Document. ( I believe I set it up originally as a new webpage, but office
switched it to a word document)..

MY PROBLEM:

I tried to add a little picture to one of my entries and when I publish it,
the pic shows up as a red "X". I manually transferred the pic to the website
through the FTP. But unlike Frontpage, when I save the word document it does
not come up and ask me about saving the embedded pictures.. how can I get the
webpage to display this picture!! Hope this makes sense
 
File Import the image into the FP web before using it in the word doc
- only open edit the word doc in FP w/ the FP web/site open

IMHO
convert the .doc to a html file and stop editing it in Word
