Not sure this is a silly question or not....
but is it possible to use two ethernet ports to technically 'double' your download speed if you have the spare bandwith? because i have two ports on my computer, and when ever i go to my friends (he has cable! woo) and it would be cool to have double speed.

Nope. You'll need a Dual Router and a second line in.

on a network i.e. between computers it may be possible but for internet access it won't make a difference

I was just wondering if I was understanding this correctly. By a dual router are you referring to one of those wireless/ethernet combo connections or something else?
