Possible OEM Problem?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to help my brother learn how to use computers and
it would seem that when he clicks on start and then Help and Support,
instead of getting what I see he gets a help box from COMPAC instead. He
said he used to get the windows help page before. How can we get it to go
back? His machine is a HP. Please help if you can!

HP & Compaq are now the same company. And they branded the computer with
it's own custom Help pages.

"Branded" Does this mean we can't get that off of there and go back to the
orginal Help and Support Page from Windows? Oh I hope not!

By default Windows Online help is searched.

I'm not talking about the online help. I'm talking about the help and
support files where you can access topics like "Windows Basics" "Security
and Maintenance" "Windows Online Help" "Table of Contents" "Troubleshooting"
"What's new" Then it will say "Ask soneone" and you can click to use Remote
Assistance etc....

My brother's computer no longer shows that, it shows some Compaq help
instead. He was learning about his computer by reading the Windows Basics
and now he can't find it. Compaq seems to have taken over.

Have him click the Ask button (top right near Options)

Okay, I can see where you mean, but he can't do that, because when he clicks
on Help and Support, he doesn't get that screen where it even has that
option. He gets a box that is from Compaq. We want that screen back where
you can see the Ask button at the top right near options.....We want that
Compaq box gone.

I don't know what else to tell you except the below which is copied and
pasted from Help and Support on my HP PC.

Is there a place where I can see all the Help topics?
The HP and Microsoft Help topics have their own Tables of Contents:

a.. Microsoft Table of Contents-Displayed by clicking the Browse Help
button at the top of the Help and Support Center.

b.. HP Table of Contents-Displayed by clicking the More Help topics link
on the Help and Support home page (click the Help and Support home button to
go to this page).

Note that using the Search feature returns topics from both HP and
Microsoft.
