Possible MFT problem

Hi,

on the surface my XP SP2 machine is running without any problems.

A while back I made a clone using Acronis but it wouldn't verify and I just felt that maybe Acronis was being too finicky and gave up on it.

However the other day I tried a 3rd party defragmentation program which is excellent but it did give an error message after it completed the defragmentation (it defragged Google desktop too).

I sent the error message and a log file to the company and they told me that I have a lot of junk in the middle of my MFT file and suggested that I format my drive.

I have run CHKDSK X: /R on my three partitions and it says they are clean.

I have a ton of programs and a ton of settings on the PC and am not eager to format at this time.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated,

Mike
