Ports (COM&LPT) heading disappeared from device manager.

I use an older PNC-1100 plotter from Roland that uses the LPT1 port. Last
week my CPU stopped recognizing anything but USB ports. I went to device
manager and the heading for ports (COM&LPT) was no longer on the menu. How do
I get the CPU to recognize this port?

Check BIOS settings to ensure the port is recognized. If not,
the fastest and cheapest solution ($10 and 10 min.) may be
to add a card with an extra LPT port.

If they are missing in Device Manager, the most likely cause is they
are not configured properly in the BIOS.

If they are missing in the BIOS, they will not show up in Device
Manager, so you should start looking there.
