A few weeks ago, popup windows stopped working. I cannot say if it is tied
to any windows update packages, as my system was crashing frequently and I
had to do multiple retores with new updates added on top.
The problem is that the url or javascript commands aren't getting passed to
the new window. The window pops up, but the url or java content don't get
passed. The window just remains blank with the windows flag waiving
indefinitely. If it is a URL that should have been passed, I can copy it off
the launching page and past in into the address bar and the page loads fine.
However, with java commands I am hosed. I don't use microsoft's new popup
stopper, but instead us the one with the google toolbar. I've disabled it
and still have this problem. I have updated my java and checked the active
script settings as well.
One other interesting issue is that under the tools option -> Internet
Options on Internet Explorer, it now says that this function is locked by the
system administrator. However, I can get to the Internet Settings via the
Control panel - strange. I don't know if this happened at the same time as
the popup problem as I didn't notice this later issue until trying to
troubleshoot the popup issue.
Any help/thoughts would be appreciated.
