Popup blocker stops entry to link even when turned off

I have been running IE6 on XP and whenever I click on a link the popup
blocker will not allow me access even if I have the popup blocker disabled. I
can get into the link by pressing the control key but this is very
frustrating. Any suggestions.

Do you have any other protective software on your computer (antivirus,
antispyware, ad blocking, etc.) that may be preventing you from viewing
web pages?
 
Only McAfee but I have this running on another computer with XP and I have no
issues with the popup blocker.
