POP3 Problem?

F

frank

I am running OL2003 on an XP Pro SP2 system and yesterday I started getting
this error:

Task My Name - Receiving reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to
the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server
administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

It was working prior to that and my pop3 access to GMail still works.

Is this something I need to fix and if so then how or is it an ISP problem?

Thanks Andreas, but I bhave tried these things, I have also tried accessing
my pop3 from another computer and it is still giving errors so I think it
must be the pop3 server end which is the problem. Any other thoughts are
welcome (on topic) :)

OK well it appears it may be local as I tried downloading from another pc
and it seemed to work ok, however I am able to pop3 from my gmail account ok
so what do you think?

Advice needed?

Further... I uninstalled NIS 2004 Pro and well it worked again. Hmmm...
maybe I need to change groups now.

Well dear friends, it is not an Outlook problem but a Symantec one. But I
will give it to you here as this is where I first thought the problem was.
So here is the story from Symantec Technical Support. There is a bug in the
latest via Live Update. The temporary solution is:

1) Uninstall your Norton product.
2) Reboot
3) Install the product again but turn Live Update OFF
4) Go to Symantec website and download the latest Anti-Virus definitions
(Intelligent Updater I think it is called) and install those only.
5) Keep Live Update off and do not use for 48 hours. After that time
Symantec assure me the problem component will have been replaced.

Best of luck and hope that helps.

Frank
