Outbox Holds Messages Until . . .

Windows XP SR3, Office 2003 Professional, Outlook 2003.

After having Outlook work fine for a long time, recently it began to behave
badly. When I try to send an email (with my Comcast POP3 accounts), the
Outbox shows the message has not gone out. An error comes up when I look at
the send/receive details that says,

Task 'The Pruiett Family - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The
connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact
your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

However, if I connect a VPN to my workplace and then try the send, it goes
through promptly. This problem comes and goes right now, but mainly it
stays. What could be causing the problem?

Also, when I go into email accounts and do a "Test Account Settings" on any
of my POP3 accounts, four of the five steps complete fine with just the send
test email step failing with:

Task 'The Pruiett Family - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The
connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact
your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Disable your virus scanner - it provides nothing to your protection and
causes all kinds of problems, especially the one you are experiencing.

Rutn on Diagnostic logging and review the results from a send/receive
session and you will see it.

You are still protected using the AV real-time scanner.

Dear Milly:

Thanks for the response. I need some clarification.

You said, "Rutn on Diagnostic logging and review the results from a
send/receive
session and you will see it."

What is Rutn and how do I accomplish this?

You said, "Disable your virus scanner . . . You are still protected using
the AV real-time scanner."

I use Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 10.1. Do you mean to uninstall
it? Do you mean to disable all email features (Internet E-mail Autoprotect)?
I do not know what you mean by, "You are still protected using the AV
real-time scanner."

Thanks for clarification.
