Why do my replies to e-mail get stuck in outbox?

I just installed Outlook 2007. No problems downloading e-mail and sending
new messages. However, when I try to reply to an e-mail, it goes to the
Outbox and never gets sent. Here is the error message reported.

Task 'pop.mindspring.com - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The
connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact
your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Once again, if I create a new message there is no problem sending. It is
only when I try to reply that it fails to send.
