How to delete large message from Outlook outbox

I have a large message sitting in my outbox that I cannot delete.
Inadvertently I sent a message which exceeds my e-mail service provider's
limit (20mB). The message did not get sent but is now sitting in my outbox. I
have tried to delete it but the command seems to be ignored. I no longer need
to send the message in its current form but I would like to remove it from my
outbox. How can I force this deletion?

Each time Outlook does a send/receive I get this error message:
Task 'mail.btinternet.com - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The
connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact
your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server
responded: 451 timeout (#4.4.4)'

Assuming you are using a later version of Outlook (e.g. Microsoft Outlook
2003), start Outlook and select File > Work Offline. Once the send fails,
you should be able to go into the outbox and delete the message.

Another way of doing this is creating a new mail profile with a new pst
file. Start Outlook with this new profile, open the old PST file, go nuke
the message in outbox. Close Outlook and delete this "new" mail profile and
go back to your old one.

I thought I had already tried deleting the file while in off-line mode but I
tried again and this time the file was deleted straight away.

Many thanks
