Pop3 mail not downloading

Hi
I have a problem. Outlook does everything you'd expect when downloading pop3
mail - shows download progress, Norton Anti-virus checks it etc but no
emails actually ever drop into my inbox, and the emails all remain on the
email server.
I have no ideas on this - has anyone come across it before, or can anyone
recommend any actions I could take?

Possibly a result of Norton email integration finding a virus in one of the
emails and Outlook thereafter barfing when it tries to download them.
Use another email client to download those messages and clean the Inbox.
I disable antivirus email integration for this reason.
