Pop Ups on intranet

MHenry

I found this thread and tried Start Run
net send * hi, but only I got the popup message on my own machine --
the machine I sent it from, not on the other computers in the network.
Have I done something wrong?
Is it because I disabled pop ups on my own machine to stop those
annoying 3rd party popups (but did not disable it on their machines)?
Thanks.

Thanks.
Is there a GUI instant messenger can be used? Or to use MSN messenger
in
intranet only.
I'm not going to use third party software because of the budget issue.
Thanks again.

The "Net Send" command uses the Messenger service in Windows, which has
nothing to do with internet explorer popups, or the windows or microsoft
messenger applications.

Net send lets you send network messages to users or workstations in a
domain. Are your computers members of a domain? If not, I'm not sure how it
works with workgroups if you want to send a message to all.

NET SEND is a different animal and not related to what you disabled.
It also worked correctly, since you told it to send a message to your
system. To understand using the command, try NET SEND /? or read
about it in Help.
