Vista 64bit pop-ups

The wife has her Vista 64bit box which uses dial up set NOT to check
for and automatically DL updates because it is not online always plus
user account controls are turned off. Updates are installed every
couple days when available while she is at work by me.

Because these are disabled pop-ups keep appearing about checking
setting and such when I know what the setting are!! Is there a way to
keep these notification pop-ups from coming up?!?!?

Evertime these things come up the wife gets all paranoid and is
calling me to come check because the thing crashed once and now the
warning pop-ups or whatever are getting her all bent out of shape even
though I tell her to ignore them and they will go away.

We know what the settings are and do not need the stupid pop-ups
telling us that something is not set the way the damn system thinks it
should be!!!

Thanks much.

Any suggestions at all?!?!?

1. Teach her not to worry.

2. You have given us no idea of which programs these are. I recall that
Windows update has a setting somewhere to not put up the reminders. As for
any other program, it would depend on the program.

I am sorry but I could have swore that I said what was causing the
pop-ups above that tell to check the computer security whatever and
that the windows update is basicaly set wrong. There is a windows
pop-up that appears down by the clock that gives warning about these
setting not being set to what the computer thinks they should be. The
one for the User Account controls being turned off has it own windows
pop-up and the Windows update setting has it own windows pop-up about
the auto update feature being turned of. If ignored they go away but
they are a pain in the ------------.

I do not know how I can be more specific about what I am asking here
and hopefully someone that really has an answer will be able to reply.

Thanks again.

I can't speak to your Windows Update popup concern. But my wife is using
a Vista 32 bit system with user account controls turned off and doesn't
notice any offending popups.

I believe I told you how to be more specific.

I also gave a suggestion as to how to fix it. I can't do more than suggest
because I don't run Vista any more, so it might be different than what I
did in W7, not to mention that I forgot the details of what I did. As I
said, it's a configuration item in Windows Security somewhere, and possibly
in any other applications that might be giving you the same kind of
notifications.
