pop/smtp and mapi accounts SSL problem

EdH

I have two accounts in my Outlook 2003 profile. The default account is a
pop/smtp using secure SSL connection. The other is my hotmail MAPI account.
After opening Outlook I can send emails perfectly well through the smtp
server.

However, if I reply to a hotmail email I can no longer send emails from my
SSL pop account (unless I close and reopen Outlook). I get the message:

reported error (0x800CCC7D) : 'Your outgoing (SMTP) server does not support
SSL-secured connections

How can I solve this?
Thanks
Ed

Ed, How did you end up resolving this? I've been receiving hotmail over Outlook, first 2003 now 2007 for several years now and this only happened to me recently after a crash and fresh OS and Office reload. Everything else works great, just can't send Outlook/hotmail from this machine now--just hangs around in the outbox. Uninstalled and reinstalled, but the problem migrated back.

thanks, Ken
