Poor performance in games

In may 2006 I built a new computer using a ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe MB, AMD64
3200 proc, a EVGA GeForce 6800 GS PCI-express graphics card and 2 gigs
of ram. For the OS I am using Win2k with service pack 4. When I first
built this rig I had no problems in games like Half Life 2, BF2 or COD2.
About a month ago these games became unplayable with choppy graphics.
I installed Halo and had the same problems. I tried lowering the
resolution to 800 x 600 with all the bells and whistles off and still
had the same problems. During these games TaskManager shows my cpu is
running at 100%. Did all the ad-ware and virus checks and had nothing.
Wiped the drive clean and reinstalled windows and I still have the
same problems. If any one has any suggestions I would be thankful.

Try using the previous Graphics Drivers (version b4), I had a problem on my
machine (XP Admitadly) I upgraded my drivers, things ran slow, and videos
were very green/white.

Just a thought to try...

Try replacing the graphics drivers with the latest ones from the Nvidia site
(or even some older ones) I had similar when Windows Update updated my
NVidia GFX drivers to the MS approved ones. ONce I went back to the previous
ones all was OK.
