Pointer pen will not work in Power Point?

In Power Point 2003, slide show view, with Windows XP the pointer pen will
not work. Will work with Windows 2000. Anyone have any ideas on why this
isn't working? Is there a patch out there anyone aware of to correct this?

Do you have the "handwriting component" installed?

Put your installation CD in your drive and run setup.exe, select Add or Remove
Features, and on
the next dialog check the box for "Choose advanced customization of
applications" and click OK. Then on the next dialog click on the "+" next to
Office Shared Features and click on the icon next to Microsoft Handwriting
Component and select "Run from my computer". That is required for the pen/ink
feature to work for you in Slide Show mode.
