On an XP Home machine, after installing XP2 and restarting the system, a
dialog appears saying that point32.exe failed to start. The machine has a
Microsoft Explorer mouse (optical USB 5-buttons with a cord) and the
appropriate driver (sorry, I've forgotten the name of Microsoft's mouse
software and that machine is a couple of miles away).
When I try to open the control panel applet, it shows the default Windows
panel. I then try to start point32.exe manually, and it fails again.
However, when I then reopen the control panel applet, it is working
correctly with the correct interface. On subsequent restarts of the
machine, everything works as it should.
Huh?
