PLUS! and the dreaded 1606 error

J

john

I have a friend who attempted to install an application and ran into the
infamous "Error 1606 Could not access network location %system drive%\my
documents\my pictures\." error. We've tried everything - modifying the
registry, making sure that the My Documents icon on the desktop is
pointing to an accessible directory, etc. After making the suggested
changes, Microsoft advises people to reinstall PLUS! from the PLUS! CD.
Huh? Both of use have been saddled with this software via an original
win 98/win ME install, upgraded to XP - in his case, XP Pro. Neither of
us have a PLUS! CD. Uninstalling it (completely) doesn't appear to be an
option, since it's not listed in the Add/Remove Control Panel.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how this problem might be
resolved?

Thanks.

I found this on the Quicken site . It worked for me. The progra
installed with no problem.
:)
"If the issue persists, create a new account:
From the Microsoft Windows Start menu, choose Settings, choose Contro
Panel, and then double-click Users and Passwords.
From the User tab, click Add User, and then follow the onscree
instructions to create a user account with administrative permissions

Restart your computer and login with the new administrator account.
Attempt to install or uninstall the Quicken program again.
If you are successful, keep this account profile on your computer fo
future Windows Installer-based installs and uninstalls.
