Plug n play and cell phones

I have a new laptop and installed my cell phone as a modem - the plug and
play worked like a charm. I did not have to do anything, the system
recognized the hardware connected to the USB port and installed the drivers.
The system recognized my cell phone and I was able to continue the
installation. Unfortunately, for other reasons, I had to reformat the
computer. Now when I plug the cell phone into the USB port, the "Found New
Hardware USB Device" bubble pops up, but instead of automatically installing
the drivers, as it did before, the "Found New Hardware Wizard" comes asking
is I want to intall the USB Device. I click yes, it goes through the motions
of searching for the drivers, then tells me it cannot install the hardware
because the wizard cannot find the necessary software. The system won't
recognize the cell phone and I am not able to complete the installation.

Any suggestions?

The cell phone is a Verizon LG 4500 -

I did not use an install disk when I reformatted. My Dell laptop comes with
a partitioned harddrive (which is not visible to me) and all the files
necesssary to bring the computer back to the day I took it from the box are
on that drive.

I might be wrong (and often am) but XP does not have native drivers for
cell phone modems. Did you previously install Verizon's office connect
product? Try alt.cellular.verizon for additional.
