It is just THERE, intermittently, in the Event Viewer.

When FP opens, an installer window comes up and disappears.

There is an unknown empty folder "WPDNSE" in %temp% files. Which I dutifully
delete on startup.

Okay: Google for:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\MS Access Database\' does not exist

and you'll come up with some ideas.

Not really. Among other things, I come up with my original question. Note: I
don't have Office installed. This is a standalone retail version.

hey CilyPudi here. There is a forum string here at Videohelp
concerning
the WPDNSE folder that may be useful:

http://forum.videohelp.com/topic304104.html

The string was started back in July 2006 by me and others!
It was all I could find then about WPDNSE. Guess it's still may be
the only thing that googles up. Anways, in short, the WPDNSE
empty folder thingy is related to Windows Media Player 11
and I stopped it occurring by removing

WPDShServiceObj.dll

with HijackThis, guess I thought it was a trojan, ha, but it worked.
Someone else said they removed the registry key:

under search assistant/acrmu/5603/wpdnse

neither action was detrimental to WMP 11.
But look up the link and read the whole string just fyi.
Hope this helps (-:
