"Please wait while domain list is created"

Dear all,

When I join a domain, I keep getting this "Please wait while domain list is
created" window. It seems to stay there forever until I hit
control-alt-delete. Though the 3-finger salute appears to get rid of the
message, then it take a long time to log into the user account. Though it
appears to have join the domain successfully, it did not set the background
and screensaver correctly. It is as though the group policy was no invoked.
After several disconnecting and rejoining of domain, it eventually invoked
the group policy. This is too time consuming and not productive.

Can anyone tell me what I have done wrong and what I can do to fix it? I am
using Windows XP Pro with SP1 installed.

Many thanks in advance.

Make sure DNS is set up properly on the network. All servers and
workstations should specify *only* the internal/AD-integrated DNS server's
IP address in their network settings. The internal/AD-integrated DNS server
should be set up with forwarders to your ISP's DNS servers for external
resolution and/or use root hints.
