Please verify the E-mail address field

A sudden problem. E-mails sent are met with a System Administrator
undeliverable message:
421 Unexpected failure, please try later

When testing the account settings the message is:
Send test e-mail message: Unable to send test message. Please verify the
E-mail Address field.

Is this a problem that can be solved from within Outlook or (as suspected)
is this a problem with the service provider.

Any details to assist are welcome.
