PLEASE improve attachment management options...

Hello:

Microsoft needs to improve Outlook's attachment management capabilities...
NOW!!!!!

Too many Outlook users mismanage their e-mail attachments, despite company
policies and training. When attachments are saved to disk, users neglect
to delete the attachment from the host e-mail message.

When you're dealing with file attachments that include Photoshop or AutoCAD
files, .pst files can, over time, balloon up to 2GB, rendering Outlook
unusable. Auto-archiving helps somewhat, but you've still got the
attachment bloat.

Three methods immediately come to mind:

(1) The option to automatically strip attachments from incoming e-mail, then
save them to a folder, either on the local machine or to a network share.
Outlook should place hyperlinks to the saved attachments within the incoming
e-mail messages.

(2) For manual "Save Attachment" processes, there should be an check-box
option to "delete attachment from e-mail" on the "Save Attachments" dialog
box

(3) An e-mail configuration option to automatically delete an attachment
from the host e-mail after the attachment has been saved to disk.

I know that there are 3rd party solutions for this problem, but Microsoft
needs to address the core issue within Outlook itself.

Suggestions/ideas, anyone?

Fred. This site, though hosted, is an unlikely place for
suggestions. The MVPs and others that help here are not
Microsoft employees.

Occasionally a Microsoft employee may come to the site, but
not likely.

For managing incoming and existing Emails attachments automatically, Kernelfor Attachment Management is an effective and efficient tool used by Outlook users. The tool deletes the attachments from Email, saves the attachments at a user-defined location in a folder on user’s computer system hard disk or in a folder at network drive and creates the links or text description regarding the location of the processed attachments in their respective Emails. The deleted attachments can be further restored at their original location using the Restore Attachment feature of the software. The tool leads to reduce in the size of PST file and user’s mailbox on Exchange Serverand improves the performance of MS Outlook.
