Can't open excel attachments in outlook.

Can't send or open any MicroSoft Office attachments. Example: If I receive an
Excel spreadsheet attachment in Outlook I have to do the following things to
open this attachment.
1.)Right click on attachment and select remove, then close e-mail without a
save.
2.) Reopen e-mail, except e-mail is now has a "Mail4ce.zip" extention.
3.) Double click on "Excel.xlt.Mail4ce.zip" file and attachment will open in
WINZIP.

Have no problems with PDF file attachments, just MS Office files.

Our IT department only(aways) solution is to format my computer and reload
everything. I think there might be another solution.

To Whom It May Concern
THANKS
Ron

What happens if you try to save the attachment to your desktop?
Do you have Mail4ce Email Compression Suite installed?

I get an MicroSoft Outlook error(Cannot Save the attachment.)
How can I find out if Mail4ce Email Compression Suite is installed. Can I do
a search for this Mail4ce Email Compression Suite software?

Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel would be my first choice of where to
look. Otherwise, what version of Outlook are you running?

I found one shortcut way to resolve the problem is to disable the attachment
compression button in Options->Mailce->Disable Mail Attachment Compression.
