Opening Outlook attachments that are themselfs e-mails

I have a question I need some help with.

I'm running MS Outlook 2003 (OS is Windows XP V2002 with SP2) as my e-mail
program which connects to the local cable company as my ISP and e-mail
server. When I get e-mail that has e-mail as an attachment I can't open the
attachment. If the attachment is WORD, EXCEL, .pdf, .gif, .jpg or almost
anything with an extension name I can click (or double click) on the
attachment and it will open. However, if the attachment is another e-mail
(ie, no extension name) I can't open it. This just started happening a
couple of months ago. Prior to that I could double-click on attachments that
were e-mail and it would open them.

I don't know what has changed since then and suspect it is just a setting I
need to change, but I don't know what setting in what software
package/module.

it’s the Google desktop version you have installed. uninstall it and go back
to the older version or disable email scanning.

Thank you. I suspected it was a security issue. If you don't mind I must now
ask how you diable email scanning. Is that a "security" option within
Outlook and if so under what tab/option would I find it. A quick search
under "help" doesn't offer anything informative.

No, its not an outlook option - change the google desktop options so it
doesn't index email.
