Opeing Attachments is frustrating

When I receive e-mails with attachments in Outlook 2007, I click on the
attachment, only to find another e-mail with another attachment. I click on
that attachment, only to find another e-mail with another attachment, only to
find another e-mail with another attachment. You get the point. I often have
to do this 6 or 7 times before I get to the end and can actually click on the
attachment and it is "there" and opens. Its like I have to open e-mail after
e-mail to get to the attachment.
If I access this very same e-mail account via the internet , rather than at
my home computer, this very same attachment opens immediately. No wading
through e-mail after email to get to it. What gives? Is there a setting in
Outlook 2007 that is causing this, since it doesn't happen when I access my
e-mail from the web outside of Outlook? Thank you.

This depends on how it was originally attached. I believe AOL accounts can
create this mess.
Let me guess; this was a "funny" forward with loads of private email
addresses exposed? Tell the sender not to blindingly press the Forward and
Send button but to clean up the email before sending it.

Thank you for your reply. I think you are partially correct. Virtually all
of these are "jokes", but only some come from AOL accounts. Others from other
internet providers....and yes within them are lots of other people's email
addresses.

HOWEVER, what I don't understand is, as I noted in my orignal question - if
I check my e-mail from the web, this doesn't happen.

From the web, I open the e-mail and it's right there. When I come home and
view that same e-mail via Outlook, then I have to go through the whole
opening and re-opening of attachment after attachment to get to the final
message. Is there an explanation why this happens?

Thank you Roady!!!

It is the way how the mail clients deals with attached forwarded messages.
Most browser based clients will extract them in the body. It is a bit the
same as how a mail client deals with attached pictures vs embedded pictures.

Thank you again Roady.
So, in Outlook 2007, is there a setting I can adjust so that attachements
open easily, without having to go through 1/2 dozen or more attached e-mails
to get to the end result? If so, can you advise how to do this or where I
might go to look up how to do this?
Happy (almost) Turjey Day.

I think Roady is misunderstanding. I am having the same frustration with my
Outlook 2003. When someone forwards a message where, for example, I am the
6th person in a row to receive it, Outlook is converting all the previous
forwards to seperate attachments. I have to open 5 attachments to get to the
original message. When I open my internet explorer and go directly into my
Yahoo email account, where my outlook is pulling the email from, the same
email is there with all the forwards one after another on one page, with no
attachments. So, when someone sends me a multiple forward as inline text,
OUTLOOK IS CONVERTING ALL THE FORWARDS TO ATTACHMENTS, not the sender. How do
we tell Outlook to stop converting the forwards to attachments?
